Planning an RV Stay While Visiting Laughlin Air Force Base
A family visit or scheduled meeting at Laughlin Air Force Base can bring you to Del Rio for several days. Broke Mill RV Park offers an independent off-base place to stay in the area; a reservation with us does not authorize anyone to enter the installation. When planning around military schedules, we encourage guests to keep two separate checklists: where to stay in their RV and how their host will arrange an authorized visit.
Confirm Your Visit and Base-Entry Requirements First
Talk with the person or organization you are visiting before making firm plans. Confirm the date, meeting point, who is responsible for your access arrangements, and which identification or visitor documentation may be required. Requirements can depend on your status, sponsorship, and the type of visit, so someone else's experience is not a reliable substitute for current instructions.
For the applicable Laughlin visitor-access requirements, use official installation channels and ask your host to verify what visitors should do. The published check-in information also addresses military personnel reporting for duty; those instructions should not be mistaken for the procedure for a civilian family guest.
If access has not been confirmed, keep your plans conditional. A visitor may need to coordinate with a sponsor or designated office. Entry decisions remain with the installation, not our staff or your RV reservation. Avoid sending identification documents through unverified messages or contacts.

Match Your RV Reservation to the Visit Schedule
A scheduled ceremony, family gathering, or official appointment may anchor your travel dates, while your travel time and overnight needs can vary. Ask your host whether the schedule is firm, whether arrival times matter, and what would happen if the meeting changed.
Before you book, compare your intended length of stay, RV dimensions, and hookup requirements with what the park can currently accommodate. Our RV stay rates give a starting point for planning, but confirm current prices, space availability, and reservation terms directly before relying on them.
If you are traveling with family, coordinate how many people will stay in the RV and whether anyone needs a different sleeping or mobility arrangement. Leave enough flexibility for an unexpected delay without assuming a military discount, special cancellation privilege, shuttle, or reserved parking area.
Make Arrival and Gate Access Two Separate Plans
Find Broke Mill RV Park first, with a route suited to your RV. Separately plan the drive to the installation in the vehicle you expect to use for the visit. A route appropriate for a motorhome is not necessarily the route you will want for a passenger-car trip later that day.
Published Laughlin AFB arrival directions identify the West Gate as the main entrance and place it on Spur 317. Another gate may serve a different purpose or have limited operations. Check the latest route, access point, hours, and identification requirements with the installation and your host close to the visit.
Give yourself time for entry procedures without estimating a guaranteed drive or inspection time. Store the host's contact information where you can retrieve it, and agree on how to communicate if travel is delayed. If directions or signs conflict with older online information, follow current official instructions from authorized installation personnel.
Keep Space for Plans Outside the Base
Some guests have an appointment that occupies only part of the day. Del Rio may offer time for meals, errands, or an outdoor break around that commitment. Lake Amistad is another possible outing, although water access and recreation areas depend on changing conditions.
Keep civilian sightseeing plans distinct from your base visit. Public recreation access does not grant entry to military property, and approved entry to the installation does not mean all its facilities are open to visitors. Check each destination's own rules before changing plans.
A simple schedule can keep the trip manageable: a confirmed meeting window, a separate travel-and-entry allowance, and optional activities that can be skipped if the visit runs late.
We welcome guests traveling to Del Rio for family and other planned visits. Confirm your RV arrangements with us for the dates you need, and confirm all base-entry procedures directly with your host and the responsible military office. Keeping those decisions separate makes the visit easier to organize.
